Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How much is a consultation?  Our initial 30 minute consultation is free.  You can call the office between 8:00 a.m. and noon to schedule an appointment.
  2. What should I bring?  Bring any documents you have been served with.  Also, I do request that you fill out a client information sheet and bring it with you to the consultation.
  3. What should I expect?  I will listen to your situation and go over the options that best fit your unique needs.  Please be prepared to be honest.  Hiding information or worrying about looking bad is not useful.  A lawyer needs to know all facts up front so that we know how to best advocate for you.
  4. How should I prepare?  This is a stressful time.  To use the time wisely, think of a short history of the issues of your case and make a list of questions to bring with you.  This can act as a short checklist to make sure you do not forget something.
  5. Can I bring someone with me?  If it makes you comfortable, please feel free to bring a support person.  However, please do not bring your children.  These issues are not appropriate for children to be present for and we do not have a waiting area or the ability to have someone watch a child.  Also, there can be ethical implications for me as an attorney to meet with a child of a dissolution or modificaiton proceeding.  Thank you for honoring this request.
  6. What are your rates?  I do not publish rates on the internet.  Please call the office for more information.  Please do know that attorney's who practice family law do require a retainer up front in order to take a case.
  7. What form of payment do you take?  Our office accepts cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.
  8. If I retain you, how will I receive information from your office?  My office utilizes an online case management system.  When you retain my services, once your informaiton is logged into the system, this will generate an email with an invitation to setup your unique login and password.  The system is encrypted with strict industry standards.  From there you will be able to see all court docketed dates, documents for your case, case notes, billing --- everything is located there for your information.  The number one ethical complaint to the Oregon Bar is lack of communication with the attorney.  We strive to use this system so that you have all the information at your finger tips.  There is a mobile app for this system that you can download on both android and apple phones and tablets.
  9. What is the best way to communicate with  you?  Myriah is in the office in the mornings and is a valuable part of my team.  Sometimes simple questions can simply be answered by calling or emailing her.  Otherwise, feel free to email or call my office.  We try hard to return emails and phone calls within 24-48 hours.
